Femininity

description

Mediums: tempera, paper, canvas.
Location: private collection.

This work belongs to a series of the artist’s nu experiments, which he conducted in 1928-1929, and to which he never returned during his career. The picture depicts not a specific woman but a prefabricated image symbolizing feminine attractiveness and beauty. The central figure is outlined very conditionally. Dividing it into separate planes, the artist repeats the contours of the body, so that the figure gradually merges with the background. An interesting feature of the work is the diagonal arrangement of the object giving it dynamism and creating the feeling that a woman moves smoothly in space as if floating or slowly soaring above the ground.
