A separate category of the work of Gerhard Richter is his famous gray paintings. The artist said that gray is the most neutral colour that does not cause any emotions and associations, so that you can create a genuinely abstract thing with it. An image devoid of recognizable shapes and lines is formed using texture and tone. Wide smooth lines overlap each other and intersect on the surface of the canvas showing the author’s indifference to any model and proving that a real object is not always the object of painting.
