Magna on canvas.
The work was an important turning point in the career of the artist. It is the first abstract canvas in which real figures cannot be considered, and the primary importance is given to carefully balanced colour combinations. The fact that Kenneth Noland tried to create an objectless picture is also evidenced by the name, which is translated from Latin as “something from nothing”, that is, created without the participation of any object. However, this work of Noland cannot yet be called completely abstract since the form resembles a fertilized egg, which hints at the creation process when a living organism appears from the void like order appears out of chaos.
