Briefly about the painting:
This work of the mature period can be referred rather to symbolic paintings. The black horse quite often was an image for expressing night visions. In the work of Conroy Maddox, its presence in the moonlit space is combined with the presence of a certain geometric object, similar to the cone of a circus artist’s hat. The fantastically tall trees that do not make up the forest make the plot even more mysterious. The painting is incredibly harmonious by its color combinations with the smooth transitions from one color to another through shades characteristic of the artist.
