The Archive-Collection of the Architectural Charitable Fund named after Yakov Chernikhov; Moscow (Russia).
Ink and pencil on paper.
The figure demonstrates the main features of the architectural compositions of Yakov Chernikhov: asymmetry, dynamism and careful study of every detail. Many drawings of the architect served as illustrations for his theoretical works and were not intended to be embodied in real conditions. This technique was included in the book “Fundamentals of Modern Architecture”, which was the first serious scientific work of the artist and which he actively used for his teaching activities. The architect was sure that graphics would become the second language of civilization in the new century. Therefore it is necessary not only to know it but also to be fluent in it, to be able to express thoughts and emerging ideas with it and to design and compose new forms.
