The canvas demonstrates cubist minimalism, with which the artist actively experimented. His colours remained thick, his brushstrokes were bold, but the colours he used were more moderate. The artist used the “top view” angle and did not fragment objects into geometric shapes, observing the full recognition of simple and few things – an inkwell, an envelope sealed with sealing wax, papier-mâché, and an opened pack of cigarettes.
