In her later period, the artist continued to work in the genres of “quiet painting” – she created mainly landscapes and still lifes. However, she did not forget her avant-garde youth. The typical country still life with a variety of colours in a simple glass vase, standing on a windowsill, is complemented in a home-style – with a jar of cherry jam. The style of this painting is unambiguously impressionistic, while the gamut of the palette is characteristic, Udaltsova’s: many shades of blue are balanced, but not blocked by shades of red.
