A few last works of Roland Penrose are devoted to the sea element. The author shows the birth of the island as dynamic and rapid process, both beautiful and dangerous to humans. Presumably, the work was created after the artist’s tourist trip on an airplane, which he made during his summer holiday in the south of France. Penrose himself said that it was much easier for him to create an artwork on vacation, away from home, when his head was free from daily worries and the subconscious mind easily found its way to the surface.
