The picture shows clear references to the colors and patterns of G. Klimt. Such reminiscences were one of the most daring areas of Fini’s art. She dared to steal components of paintings of other artists and introduced them into the lexicon of her own works. If at first glance the viewer sees that the scene depicts two female mistresses, after close scrutiny, he is no longer sure. Lenore loved to intrigue – she liked to mix genders and blur the edges. This painting was a part of the erotic art exhibition, headed by German sexology doctors and was presented at a separate room “for special viewers”. The plot was considered too provocative and too sexual for an average viewer.
