The other names of the painting are “Nochlezhka” or “Lumpen Proletariat.” It was created for the exhibition “Masters of Analytical Art” at the Press House as a part of a panel together with Tatyana Glebova. The cut-off Glebova’s strip “Prison” was sent to the Madrid Museum of Modern Art and is a separate story. On the canvas painted according to the rules of analytical art with reference to the tricks of naive art, the artist gave complete characteristics to various people who were poor for different reasons. The author resorted to character scaling, depicting a woman’s mournful face of almost the same size as the figures of the men looking as static as sculptures.
