The can be called a nostalgic step towards rayonism, from which Goncharova never renounced. However, the hot blazing wilting forest is more recognizable than the early “Green Forest” – it certainly cannot be called a pointless painting. Trees grow “correctly”, although their trunks are chaotically tilted, like if after a storm. The colours in the late painting by the artist are gorgeous – the piercing blue sky shines through the very thinning gold of the leaves. The shadows in the lying yellow grasses appear the same blue.
