1915
Mediums: cardboard, tempera, collage.
Location: The Pinacoteca Brera (Milan, Italy).
Boccioni’s only known work devoted exclusively to the topic of hostilities. The artist used the collage technique in his work, which is also quite unusual for his art. The picture is filled with energy and dynamics, where the tilted spears of the attacking cavalrymen set the rhythm. Despite the claims of Futurists about the superiority of weapons over humans, here we see the opposite – live horses with their riders overcome the resistance of soldiers armed with modern rifles.
