One of ten lithographs created by El Lissitzky as his original projects for staging the futuristic opera “Victory over the Sun”. The author’s intentions were never realized on theatre stages; however, they became independent works of art. In them, the artist presented different characters of the play (athletes, an announcer, etc.) in the form of abstract electromechanical dolls. Following the themes outlined in the opera (the author of the text is the poet Aleksey Kruchyonykh) and the music created by Mikhail Matyushin, El Lissitzky presented a new avant-garde theater, where machines played the roles.
