Chaim Soutine was a Russian artist of Jewish origin. Modigliani met him in Paris at a hostel for poor artists. They soon became friends. Since Soutine did not have money, his friend did his best to support him in difficult times: Amedeo shared his money with Chaim and called him a brilliant artist. Thanks to Modigliani, he started believing in himself and did not stop painting.
