Winter landscape

description

Mediums: oil, canvas.
Location: The Cornell Museum of Art, Winter Park, Florida (the USA).

In the picture, we can see a simple architectural landscape with a spectacular bend in the road that goes deep into the canvas directly from the viewer. The composition is built using techniques from several artistic styles. Large planes of blue, white and brown colours expressively indicate the structures and the fence of the roadway. This method was actively used by post-impressionists, especially Cezanne. Not too striking, but the presence in the picture of a variety of geometric shapes is obvious – even the sky above the houses is made up of them, although each triangle and square differ from others not in tone, but just a small percentage of it.
