1986
The Chinati Foundation, Marfa Texas (the USA).
In the second half of his career, the artist moved to the small town of Martha in Texas, a remote, sparsely populated area, where he began to create his large-scale and most significant works. One of them, made in 1986, is large aluminum cubes installed in the pavilion at an abandoned military base. The metal polished to a mirror shine reflects bright sunlight and creates incredibly beautiful effects. Cubes reflect not only light but also the surrounding landscape since the windows in the room are huge and occupy almost the entire wall.
