Most often, Ilya Chashnik chose black as the background color, on which he placed elements of the other always few and mostly muted colors. In this composition, the figure of a cross dynamically moving due to a perspective expansion in the form of a searchlight beam is located on a deep black background. If it were not for the lower thin horizontal lines, it could easily have been mistaken for a triangular blade. The blurred spot of bright bluish light in the crosshairs, a rather rare method in the artist’s painting, is effective due to its many-valued symbolism.
