1925 - 1926
Mediums: tempera, cardboard.
Location: private collection.
This is the only self-portrait by the artist, in which Phillia coarsely depicted his face on an abstract background consisting of several parts. Below we can see urban buildings, similar to strict geometric figures, while in the upper part the artist placed more flowing forms, similar to clouds. The semitransparency of these figures creates the feeling that the portrait merges with the surrounding space as if floating in the air, but his face remains serious and even a little evil. The picture creates a dual impression as if the person depicted on it is in a state of meditation.
