The Sheaf and the Moon series is both the most romantic and abstract cycle in the work of Pavel Kondratyev. The soft dim lighting that characterizes the work “Evening” evokes a lyrical and slightly sad mood, while the author’s work with color is delighting and fascinating. Masterfully choosing contrasting combinations of shades, Kondratiev created an atmosphere of summer sunset and pleasant evening coolness. Sheaves in the center of the composition create their own rhythm, giving the picture volume and depth. The master rather worked on this painting like an Impressionist.
