The artist decided to erect the massive building of the size of a real house made of ice bricks in the most inappropriate place for this – sunny California. To do this, he invited residents who built an “ice house” in several locations near Los Angeles and Pasadena. The ice quickly melted under the sun, destroying human labor, which demonstrates the fragility of the works of human hands, including works of art. As in all the works of Allan Kaprow, the audience could take part in what was happening, contributing to this unpromising construction.
