Dream Passage with Four Corridors

The installation consists of two narrow intersecting corridors. At their intersection, there is a small space in which there are two metal tables and four chairs, two of which are suspended from the ceiling. Tables are reflected in the mirrors on the ceiling so that there are also four of them visually. The whole structure is illuminated by fluorescent yellow, white and red tubes. Cold and bare space, corridors and a square room with an area of ​​2.4 metres cause a feeling of a nightmare rather than a dream indicated in the name. The elements extracted from everyday life create an emergency that can lead to psychological trauma. Such experiments repeated in Nauman’s work since 1969 are an allusion to some police practices, and more generally, a reflection of the processes of violence. A device based on the principle of symmetry imposes discomfort on the viewer from an adjustable, controlled and degrading human dignity system.
