Men’s clothes and cut hair are the artist’s refusal of her female roles. She holds one braid in her left hand, while many strands of hair are scattered across the floor, curling around her legs and chair. The act of cutting off the braid usually symbolizes the rejection of girlhood and innocence. However, here it can be considered as a break in the relationship between two people or two lifestyles. Over the sad scene, Kahlo wrote the words and notes of the song, “I loved your hair, and now that they are gone, I don’t love you anymore”.
