In the late period of her work, the sculptor began to pay more attention to the topics of social interaction. Hepworth depicted mysterious figures in the form of elongated elements resembling vertical rocks in Cornwall, where the artist lived. These tall figures face each other and seem to be discussing something beyond human comprehension. Between the characters, the sculptor placed octagonal “magic stones”, of which there are also three. The stones and schematically depicted people form a kind of a magic circle, which anyone can enter.
