Autumn

author

Aleksandr Golovin

description

Mediums: tempera, canvas.
Location: State Russian Museum, St. Petersburg (Russia).

Leaving the capital according to the doctors’ orders, Golovin lived in Tsarskoye Selo for almost 20 years. The magnificent parks of the small town offered him scenes for landscapes at any time of the year. In the painting “Autumn”, the artist chose a perspective of nature, which indicates the presence of a human being among the royal splendour of the golden days of the season. Here it is conveyed by the presence of a white park sculpture. The graceful figure of the girl stands out against the background of the shady part of the forest, where the rays of the bright autumn sun do not reach, and therefore a mysterious canopy is preserved there. When you take a look at the “farewell beauty” of nature, many of Pushkin’s poems emerge in your mind.
