The paintings of the series “Coptic wall” are among the most strict and difficult works of the master. At first sight, the painting seems to be quite simple: two broad strips of irregular shape from roughly-textured surfaces are divided vertically by a much narrower strip. Due to the slow color change, this blue strip resembles the sky, which joyfully looks through the narrow slot between the grumpy cliffs. However, you cannot be completely sure that the author actually meant the sky and stones. Perhaps, Enrico Donati just wanted to show the subtle interaction between massive forms, which influence each other not touching each other.
